Lubrication Information

Lubrication
When discussing sex and sex toys, we can’t forget the lubrication. What encounter hasn’t been made a little more fun when you add a slick wet playing field? The slipperier the better! Even if you feel you don’t need a lubricant to attain that, it can also add a variety of flavors to your playtime. Water Based Lubricants are the most popular, but as you can see there are plenty of other varieties to choose from. Below are some tips outlining the different choices you have.

Water Based Lubricants:
The most popular of the group. Water based lubricants are safe to use with condoms as well as all your sex toys. Mainly composed of water, these products will not stain your clothing or sheets. The water based lubricants can also add a little flavor to your playtime. Available in Bubblegum, Watermelon, Kiwi-Strawberry and Chocolate Cherry to name a few, you can find a flavor that is just right for you and your lover. Most are available in Cinnamon or Mint which adds a touch of warmth.
Although they are generally safe for everyone, they do contain small amounts of sugar. When introduced into the vagina, they may cause irritation and possibly infection. These should be reserved for oral play and not necessarily used internally especially if you are sensitive and prone to infection.

Silicone Based Lubricants:
Silicone based lubricants tend to last longer and much slipperier than water based lubes.
Silicone based products are completely waterproof, making them ideal for underwater use and Anal Sex. They also retain their lubricating properties better and last longer than water-based lubricants. Because they are waterproof, they are ideal for all your water play.
Silicone based lubricants can potentially damage any of your sex toys made from silicone. When using toys, a water based lubricant is recommended.

Petroleum Based Lubricants:
Made from petroleum jelly, mineral oil or petrolatum. Different types include Vaseline products, baby oil and KY Jelly. Petroleum-based lubes destroy latex practically on contact, rule of thumb, never use Petroleum-base lubes with condoms, diaphragms or cervical caps, as this will render them useless, which can lead to unwanted pregnancy or spread infection. Petroleum-based lubes also stain fabric and can be difficult to wash out. It is quite common for these types of lube to irritate the vagina, so they're not really the best option for women wanting to enjoy vaginal penetration. Petroleum-based lubes are great for male masturbation.

Oil-Based Lubricant:
Usually made from natural products, such as vegetable oils and nut oils, oil-based lubes tend to stain fabrics and can be difficult to wash off, but they are safe for use with the vagina. Oil-based lubes also destroy latex, so, like petroleum-based lubes, they should never be used with condoms, diaphragms or cervical caps. Oil-based lubricants are great for anal sex, vaginal intercourse, and male and female masturbation.

Massage Oils and Warming Lotions:
If you and your lover are fans of hot erotic massages, then this is for you. With a wide variety of scents and flavors, you will surely find something to your liking.
Most massage oils are for external use only and should never be used as a lubricant. Although there are a few out there, you should always read the bottle to be sure how to use that particular product safely. Most will break down latex rendering them useless, therefore they should never be used with a condom.
